It was spring 2011 when the idea first came to Terry Hoefer.
Mom, he said, I want to run with you.
Vickie Hoefer ran marathons in her 20s, and always encouraged her youngest son to follow his heart, but even she was hesitant here.
Terry, who has cerebral palsy, had more surgeries by age 5 than most people do in a lifetime. His first feeding pump came as a toddler, and at age 12 he spent weeks in the hospital with hip problems. There were concerns about the asthma, arthritis, vision problems and the condition that caused an accumulation of fluid on Terry's brain.
